"Islam is a Religion of Peace and Creation" forum to be conducted in Chechnya
Chechnya?s authorities prepare to hold international peacekeeping forum "Islam is a Religion of Peace and Creation," REGNUM was informed on Aug 10 at Chechnya?s government?s press office.
The source said that the forum planned for Aug 22-23 in Gudermes is to be attended by about a hundred of theologians from different cities of Russia and the world, including Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, leader of the Buddhistic Traditional Sangha of Russia Damba Ayusheyev, mufti of Brunei Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, and other eminent religious figures.
"The goal of the forum is encouraging Muslims of the Russian Federation to resist religious-political extremism and terrorism, to support institutions of state government and non-governmental organizations in promoting a policy of tolerance and respect to all the peoples of the multiethnic Russia," said Head of Administration of the President and Government of the Chechen Republic Abdulkakhir Izrayilov at a conference at which preparation to the forum was discussed.
