Russian blogger could possible face up to prison
A man accused of falsely warning of a terror threat could face up to three years in prison. The trial into the so-called blogger`s case has started in Perm in Russia`s Volga district. It is the first time a person has gone on trial for a text posted on the internet in Russia.
The Prosecutor?s Office analysed Dmitry Shirinkin`s blog and concluded he had a desire to shoot dead a dozen people.
In his defence, the blogger said the text is a fiction based on the shooting at a Virginia campus where a student shot dead over 30 his classmates.
He says he did not want to frighten anyone but wanted to draw the authorities` attention to the problem.
Shirinkin added that he did not expect such a reaction to his writting.
