Researchers presented the new technology that allows only a single drop of blood to qualify all the viruses that were in the body of the inhabitant of our planet throughout his life. The new method will allow doctors to study the effect of microorganisms on the development of specific diseases.
Microbiologists have suggested a new technology called VirScan. This design allows just one drop of blood to find what viruses encountered a man during his own life, describes in the journal Science.
VirScan was designed to learn as viruses, which infected person, affecting his immune system. Before the invention of the new technology, doctors could find the infection in the blood only by the presence of antibodies that are produced as a protective reaction. But thus it was possible to see only the last few cases of infection. VirScan allows you to trace the history of the emergence of virus in the body of the inhabitant of our planet, even if they were asymptomatic. It is known that the new test will be inexpensive - $ 25, which will allow to use it extensively in medical practice.
To ascertain the capabilities VirScan, American scientists conducted a study. They studied about 206 types of viruses and created their synthetic analogs. The experts took blood from 600 subjects, inhabitants of Peru, the United States, South Africa and Thailand. Based on these analyses, they identified the known antibodies that are produced in the body inhabitant of our planet. Correlating the obtained information, scientists obtained 106 ordinary varieties of interaction of viruses with antibodies.
It turns out that most of the inhabitants of our planet for their lives ill 10 kinds of viruses. However there were also others who have this figure reached 84.
