Head of large Cypriot media group murdered in Nicosia
Andis Hadjicostis, the head of one Cyprus`s largest media holdings, was murdered on Monday night in the country`s capital of Nicosia, a local media agency reported.
CyprusWeekly.com reported that, "Hadjicostis, 43, was just getting out of his car at around 8.30 p.m. outside his home near the U.S. Embassy, when a man in a crash helmet shot him twice at close range. He died instantly."
The agency added that after the shooting, the attacker sat on a motorbike piloted by another suspect and they both sped from the crime scene.
Hadjicostis worked as the managing director of the DIAS media group, which also includes the Sigma TV channel. He was married and the father of two children.
Police have cordoned off the scene of the crime.
