Nicole Richie: I Outsang Jennifer Hudson in "We Are the World"
Nicole Richie says she got carried away singing the remake of "We Are the World" Monday in the same Hollywood studio where the original was cut 25 years ago.
"I hope JenniferHudson wasn`t upset that I was out-singing her tonight," she sarcastically Twittered.
Richie and Hudson, both 28, were among the 80 stars who stood shoulder-to-shoulder on risers at Henson Recording studios to raise money for Haiti earthquake relief.
Richie said she is still reeling from the experience.
"WOW," she Twittered after the event. "Brian Wilson stood next to me & I got to hear him sing right into my left ear. Can you say AWESOME!"
Richie - who was four years old when her father Lionel Richie wrote the original tune with Michael Jackson -- said she was "excited" to do it again and "help make a change."
She and beau Joel Madden even brought daughter Harlow, 2.
"Watched harlow flirt with Kanye, Cary Hart, Busta [Rhymes], Sean garret, and the jonas brothers," he joked via Twitter. "Just like her mom, she plays hard to get."
Jason Mraz told UsMagazine.com it was "great" being able to participate in the song. "Haiti needs our attention as a nation right now," he said. "Personally as an artist, I think music is probably the closest thing that all of humanity gets to agreeing what God is."
Rob Thomas told Us he was impressed that everybody left "their egos at the door."
"I think it`s high time that we do this," he said. "I think we should have helped Haiti a long time ago, so I`m glad that we are. I think it`s unfortunate that something like this had to happen to make us [step up]."
Added Celine Dion, "We have a special responsibility to help needy people and this is part of our world. We`re all gathering here together to support people in need and to do whatever we can. We`ll lend our voices and help however possible."
