India is trying to regain the diamond "Kohinur"
The government of India is taking all possible steps to get the diamond "Kohinoor" in their possession, claiming that the stone was not stolen, and was presented as a gift from the United Kingdom.
According to media reports, said the Deputy Minister of justice Ranjit Kumar Supreme court of India confirmed that the diamond was not stolen, but was gifted to the British East India company, which was founded in December 1600 by decree of Elizabeth I and received extensive privileges for trading in India.
The country's highest court decides the matter after the Indian NGOs filed a petition to the court with a request to participate in the auction for the return of the diamond.
Legendary is 105.6 carat diamond, whose name means "mountain of light", set in the crown of the Queen mother at the exhibition in the tower of London. He was a perennial source of controversy, with claims not only from India but also in Pakistan.
"Kohinoor" was found in Golconda mines in Central southern India, according to the British Royal Palace, and passed through the possession of "Mughal princes, Iranian warriors, Afghan rulers and Punjabi Maharajas", and then was in British hands in 1849.
The Indian government has reiterated its determination to make every possible effort to return the "Kohinoor" amicable way.
Prime Minister Narendra modi has ensured that India has restored several historic pieces - including the Indian statue of the 10th century goddess Durga from Germany, almost 900 years of sculpture "the Parrot" Lady from Canada and antique statues of Hindu deities from Australia.
