Why Chace Crawford asks his bodyguards to carry mirrors with them?

The 24-year-old hunk is famed for his fresh-faced looks, which have won him legions of female fans since he found fame on US teen show Gossip Girl. The star likes to look his best at all times, and so came up with the novel way of ensuring he never has a hair out of place.

"Chace insists that his own bodyguards carry hidden mirrors so he can check himself at a moment`s notice," an insider revealed to the National Enquirer magazine.

Chace has previously admitted he is very particular about his appearance. He was once left devastated when a costume he wore for Halloween went wrong, leaving him with crusty facial skin.

"I got the girl that works on hair and make-up on the show to send me over a moustache, sideburns and the glue, and she told me how to do it. She said it would come off in the morning. Well, I could not get that damn glue off my lip and sideburns for days," he lamented. "There was this horrible residue that I kept having to pick off my facial hair. People were like, `What`s wrong with your face?` and I was like, `I don`t want to talk about it.` "
