Dick Cheney: Putin looking for a way to undermine NATO
Former Vice President dick Cheney said in his speech on Monday that the alleged involvement of Russia in the elections can be considered an "act of war".
"It was a very serious effort undertaken by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government and his organization to greatly affect our fundamental democratic processes," said Cheney at the summit the Economic Times Global Business Summit in new Delhi, India . "In some circles, it is considered a military act."
Cheney, who made clear that not "speaking for someone else", before offering his assessment of threats from Putin, said that Russia expects from the continuation of such efforts "in the future" and accused the Russian President of trying to influence the past. "I would not underestimate the weight that we, as Americans, lay on the Russian attempts to interfere in our internal political processes," said Cheney.
The intelligence community of the United States publicly accused Russia that it stands for several information dumps, including against the Democratic national Committee and John Podesta, Chairman of the campaign of Hillary Clinton. Russia denies the charges, which is an essential investigation in the House of representatives and the U.S. Senate and in the administration of the trump.
Cheney also warned about the Russian military aggression and the potential destabilization, which can be created by Putin. "He is doing everything possible to find ways to undermine NATO," said Cheney.
Former Vice-President lovingly recalled the initial period after the end of the cold war and said that the times in some way changed for the worse.
