According to reports, a UN security guard was taken to hospital with injury after the incident. A few days later the press-Secretary of the UN Secretary General made a statement about "some unfortunate misunderstandings involving security between officers in the form of the UN and members of security services of the member delegations". Press Secretary of the UN continued to tell reporters that the problem was solved, and "had taken the necessary measures to prevent similar misunderstandings in the future.
After this week the attack took place, officials of the Turkish security services on protesters in front of the residence of the Turkish Ambassador in Washington, the US State Department said that "conveys our concerns to the Turkish government in the strongest possible terms". In a statement, the Turkish Embassy States that "Turkish-Americans reacted in self-defence". Critics argue that the violence reflects a much broader model of human rights violations in Turkey.
