Michael Jackson had over 30 tubes of skin-whitening cream
The singer died in his Los Angeles home in June of acute Propofol intoxication by intravenous injection of another. His personal physician Conrad Murray has admitted administering the powerful anaesthetic to help Michael sleep, and has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for his role in the singer`s death.
After interviewing Murray following Michael?s death, police detectives went to the `King of Pop`s home to look for a medical bag the physician had put in a cupboard. The search warrants used during the visit were unsealed yesterday, and showed several vials of Propofol and 19 tubes of hydroquinone and 18 tubes of Benoquin, which are both skin-lightening creams, were found.
The post mortem carried out on Michael showed he suffered from vitiligo, a condition which causes skin to lose its pigment. Benoquin is often prescribed to people with vitiligo to lighten the skin around the affected areas.
According to police statements, Michael`s personal assistant Michael Amir Williams told detectives that after the star was pronounced dead Murray said he wanted to go back to the mansion to "pick up some cream that Mr. Jackson has so that the world wouldn`t find out about it".
Michael`s changing skin colour was commented on throughout his life. He was accused of deliberately making himself look white, although he always insisted his pale appearance was the result of vitiligo.
Also discovered at his home were sedatives and equipment to take blood pressure.
Earlier this week, it was revealed Michael`s logistics director Alberto Alvarez and two other members of his staff had submitted sworn statements saying Murray deliberately delayed calling paramedics so he could hide evidence of drugs in the room.
Murray`s lawyer Ed Chernoff has rejected Alvarez`s statement, insisting Murray did not try to hide drugs.
Murray will face court on April 5.
