Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have split after five years together
The 48-year-old actor and the former Playboy model, 37, announced the break-up on their Twitter accounts last night. Both insisted it was an amicable split, and claimed they will remain close friends.
"Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I`m grateful 4 the many blessings we`ve shared and I wish her the very best! S`okay! ?;^> (sic)," Jim wrote.
Seconds later, Jenny posted: "Im so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane [Jim`s daughter] and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart."
Jim`s representative Marleah Leslie has also confirmed the split, saying the couple were still close and would continue their friendship.
"Jim and Jenny have recently decided to end their five year relationship," a statement read. "They are grateful for the many blessings they have shared and wish each other the very best."
The split has come as a surprise to many of the couple`s friends. On Valentine`s Day just two months ago, Jim hired a skywriter to pen a message of love above the Los Angeles home he shared with Jenny. He also posted a romantic note on the internet.
"Jenny my Love, you`ve stolen my heart, my soul and of course anything you find in my pants," he wrote.
