Carey Mulligan gets mistaken for a prostitute in Los Angeles
The `An Education` actress admits she feels much more at ease in New York because it easier to walk around the city without looking suspicious.
She said: "You can spend an entire day walking around in New York, whereas in Los Angeles, it always ends at some point because you have to find a way to get home.
"If you`re walking down the street in Los Angeles, people do sort of look at you like you`re a hooker because it`s so rare to see someone just walking."
The British actress - who is dating her `Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps` co-star Shia LaBeouf - enjoyed her time in New York while working on different projects so much, she is even considering relocating there.
She added to Interview magazine: "I love New York. I think I could live in New York. The first time I was there for an extended period of time was a couple of years ago when we shot `The Greatest`, and then I did the play `The Seagull` the following summer. I came back last fall to do `Wall Street`. But I love New York - maybe more than Los Angeles or London. I think I`m happiest in New York."
