The singer is famed for her dedication to fashion, and is rarely seen in dressed-down outfits. Last year she cropped her hair into a blonde Mohican, and her stage costumes have included flesh-coloured body suits and a high-cut black leotard.
Rihanna is interested in all aspects of fashion, but doesn`t let the industry dictate the shape of her body. She doesn`t diet, and is happier being curvy than skinny.
"You shouldn`t be pressured into trying to be thin by the fashion industry, because they only want models that are like human mannequins. They know that if we see an outfit on a mannequin in a shop window we will love it and want to buy it whatever size we are. That`s why they have sizezero models - they want to sell clothes," she explained to British newspaper The Daily Mail.
"But you have to remember that it`s not practical or possible for an everyday woman to look like that. Beingsizezero is a career in itself so we shouldn`t try and be like them. It`s not realistic and it-s not healthy."
The 22-year-old looks up to stars like Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga and Grace Jones because they refuse to conform to trends. She likes to look edgy rather than trendy, and only watches what she eats when her diet has got "out of control".
