The `Tamara Drewe` actress is planning to reduce her film roles so she and her 37-year-old spouse Stefano Catelli - who she married in a low-key ceremony in Spain on June 5 - can enjoy their first year of married life.
She said: "I love married life and I decided it was about time I took a breakfrom filming and working abroad so we can spend more time together."
However, the 24-year-old beauty will not take a breakfrom acting completely.
Gemma has signed up to star in Henrik Ibsen`s `The Master Builder` at London`s Almeida Theatre from November, and says she prefers treading the boards to shooting movies.
She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "I prefer working on stage, actually."
Gemma has previously confessed she didn`t think she would ever get married and imagined a life filled with cats as she got older.
She said: "It takes you by surprise. I always thought I was going to end up an old spinster, with my cats and fur coats."
