Gala Kremlin reception marks National Unity Day
MOSCOW, November 4 - President Vladimir Putin held a gala reception in the Kremlin Friday to celebrate for the first time National Unity Day, marking Moscow liberation from Polish invaders in 1612.
"This national holiday is new for us, but it is meaningful for its deep spiritual and historical roots," Putin said.
The reception gathered representatives of various confessions, public organizations, international and Russian charity funds, artistic people, members of the Public Chamber and parliament.
National Unity Day was introduced to replace November 7 that formerly marked the 1917 Bolshevik revolution.
