The former Spice Girl - who gained 66lbs while she was pregnant with her third child Madison in September - has lost weight thanks to a strict diet and fitness regime, and is glad to feel like her former self again.
She said: "I don`t feel so much like a slug! I feel so alive and I have to much more energy. And when I walk, my things aren`t constantly touching - just every other step instead of every step!"
Mel - who is a spokesperson for weight loss company Jenny Craig - also believes losing the pounds has helped her be a better mother to Madison and her older children Phoenix, 13, and Angel, four.
In an interview with Britain`s HELLO! magazine, she said: "Losing the weight has helped me be the best mother possible. My energy`s up, my brain`s more alert and it`s just more enjoyable. Everything doesn`t feel like so much of an effort.
"And it helps that Angel is no longer playing my bum like a bongo drum, telling me how big it is!"
Now living in Australia where she works on various TV shows including `The X Factor`, British born-Mel is keen to embrace the sunshine lifestyle, but her body isn`t quite up to the standard of the famous babes on Bondi Beach yet.
The 36-year-old star - who is married to Stephen Belafonte - said: "I haven`t even been bikini shopping yet. To be honest, I`m not sure I can compete with the hot Bondi Beach babes just yet, but I`m fit and healthy and ready to dive into the Aussie lifestyle."
