The `Glee` actor was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver, Canada on 13.07.13 and - while there are no implications of foul play - no cause of death has been confirmed yet.
Cory`s publicist Melissa Kates said: "We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of CoryMonteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."
The star - who played Finn Hudson in the musical drama - was discovered in his room by hotel staff after he failed to check out at the designated time.
In a statement, Acting Chief Doug LePard commented: "Shortly after noon today, the Vancouver Police received a call from the BC Ambulance Service regarding a sudden death in a room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel at 1038 Canada Place in downtown Vancouver.
"The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old actor CoryMonteith, who achieved great fame on the popular TV series `Glee`."
Meanwhile 20th Century Fox and Fox Broadcasting Company - the executive producers for the show - paid tribute to an "exceptional talent."
They added: "We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person.
He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones."
Cory, who had been dating his co-star Lea Michele, was in rehab for drug addiction as recently as April.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday (15.07.13) and coroner Lisa Lapointe stated: "We do not have a great deal of information as to cause of death."
