Chapel exploded in Smolensk region
A chapel in Smolensk region that was built in honor of Smolensk icon of God?s Mother "Odigitria" has been exploded.
An official website of Russian Orthodox Church informs the explosion took place late at night at 14 November. Chapel?s walls, roof and floor were destroyed. Moreover next buildings were damaged.
Experts, operative and investigation officers of Federal Security Service department in Smolensk region are working at the place of explosion.
The exploded chapel was consecrated on August, 12, 2005. It was built near a village Red hill of Vyazemsk district of Smolensk region where there had been bloody battles of the Red Army with attacking German forces. The Red Army?s losses here were 1 millions and 200 thousands of soldiers. The memorial complex "Field of Memory" was opened at the place of battles.
