Roofs to blossom on New Arbat
Ecologists are going to make roofs on New Arbat green nook of the capital.
Roofs of low (stylobate) part of houses 11-13 will soon turn into flowering gardens.
The Department of nature management and preservation of the environment of the capital city reports first designed suggestions planting of trees and gardens on roofs were made on November. Landscape architects wanted to make grass-plots with paths and other attributes of promenade zone and the left side of the composition they planned to design as Japanese stone garden. These suggestions were sent for revision: ecologists did not like too little part of roof (30%) was suggested to plant trees and gardens, and the representatives of Federal security service demanded of infrequent people appearance on the roof: New Arbat is the route of federal significance.
According to the new projects the square of "plant zone" will be about 45% of the roof surface (about 1500 square meters). The plants will be selected the way to look after rarely.
