Prosecutor of Kabardino-Balkaria denied tortures of arrested rebels
Prosecutor of Kabardino-Balkaria Yurii Ketov called press-conference to disprove information that suspected in October attack on Nalchik are tortured.
But relatives and lawyers of victims didn`t believe prosecutor. Speech of Ketov lasted for 15 minutes. He reported about investigation of Rasul Kudaev`s case and was surprised by the fact that mother of suspected appealed to London human right watch organization. In this occasion prosecutor noted that investigation has "concrete facts about connection of Kudaev to terrorist attack".
Yurii Ketov informed that many arrested admitted participation in attack on capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, are remorseful of their deeds and advised co-patriots not to listen to extremists. He also showed videos, where prisoners tell about remorse. Arrested also said that they were beaten not by law machinery workers but by anonymous local citizens.
Publication of video with message from prisoners was planned on Wednesday but was postponed till Friday without any explanations. There is a version that prison doctors tried to improve appearance of Kudaev and other arrested during several days.
Rasul Kadaev was arrested after events on October 13, 2005, when tens of rebels fought with army and police on streets of Nalchik.
