Antiracial meeting in St.Petersburg
About a hundred people gathered at the meeting in front of Smolny in St.Petersburg to demand providing safety for foreign students. The meeting is held in connection with the Cameroonian student murder on Saturday in St.Petersburg.
There are not only representatives from African countries, and Middle east and Asia. Representatives of public organizations "Memorial" and "Nashi" ("Ours") attended the meeting too.
The meeting participants intend to pass to the city authorities the notice of appeal, containing the demand to provide safety for foreign students in St. Petersburg and in Russia on the whole.
"Geography of last two years losses is wide: Cameroon, Tunis, Morocco, Congo, Mali, Burkina-Faso, Guinea, China, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Russia. When shell it stop? We appeal to law machinery to exterminate this evil in St. Petersburg. There is no doubt, the culprits interpret negligence on the side of authorities and indifference on the side of society as some kind of approval for their actions, and see some sense in them", says the notice.
"Russia is a multinational country, St. Petersburg is an international city. We are proud of it, so let us zealously protect both. The silence collaborates with extremists, racists and Fascists. Let us say them - NO." also says the notice.
