Russian gas to go another way?
Byelorussian President Alexander Lukashenko and deputy chairman of Gasprom Board of Directors Alexander Medvedev discussed the opportunities of increasing transit volume of Russian gas to Europe.
The parties discussed the wide range of questions about collaboration between Gasprom and Byelorussian concern "Byeltransgas", and agreed on that the two companies are to create special working group to study those projects which may be realized in the nearest future.
There are projects, connected with underground natural gas storage in Byelorussia, and with expansion of transit facilities for increasing gas supplies to Europe through Byelorussia territory.
In particular, the opportunity to enlarge storage volumes to 1 billion cubic meters was considered.
At present, most part of Russian gas transit to Western and Central Europe is realized by Ukraine.
