Kremlin may become "Wonder of the World"
In the beginning of January planet population was suggested to choose 7 most miraculous constructions, created by hands of men - final voting in project "New 7 Wonders of the World" has started.
Every person, who has telephone or access to Internet, can vote for any candidate. "Kremlin/Cathedral of Vasiliy Blazhenniy" is under number 12 on the list of 21 finalists.
Idea to calculate wonders of the world belongs to Canadian Bernard Veber, famous film director, aviator and traveler.
Technology of the voting was rather simple: during year of 2005 one could suggest candidates for "wonders" on site www.n7w.com. The only limitation was the date of construction - not later than 2000. Among other requirement were cultural heritage and beauty of the object. 19 millions people participated in voting.
Among 21 finalists are - Athenian Acropolis, Roman Coliseum, Doge`s Palace in Venice, Pisa Tower, Indian Taj-Mahal, Spanish Palace Alhambra, French Versal, Temple Anchor Vat in Cambodia, Temple in Petr (Jordan), Royal Palace in Kyoto, Cathedrals Ashen (Germany) and of St. Family in Barcelona, Great Chinese Wall, Parish Eiffel Tower, Statue of Freedom in New York, Golden Gates Bridge in San Francisco, Sydney Opera House, Timbuktu town in Mali, Empire State Building in New York, Kremlin in Russia.
Final voting will last for all year - ceremony of awarding will be held on January 1, 2007 and will be broadcasted on TV and internet. Organizers promise to spend half of earned money on financing of monuments` restoration, including restoration of Buddha statue, raked with fire by Afghan fanatics.
