Seven Russians died in shipwreck in Tatarsky Strait
On January 17 night a fishing ship under foreign flag with Russian crew went down in Tatarsky Strait.
The accident took place at about 2 a.m. Moscow time. According to the provisional data, the crew consisted of 12 citizens of Russia.
According to the words of the head of Information Administration of Russian Emergency Ministry Victor Beltsov, one of the crew members managed to save himself without assistance.
As the official from the Russian Emergency Ministry Regional Centre explained, the signal of distress was received when the emergency radio buoy had worked. The catching trawler "Asandra" discovered a life raft with one crew-member. "According to the saved man, who is in grave condition, the second life-raft didn`t open and people in special hydro costumes jumped into the water ", noted the Regional Centre official.
At the place of occurrence patrol the emergency helicopter discovered seven dead bodies.
Other four crew-members` destiny is still unknown. The amphibian plane "BE-200" with thermal imager started off for search.
Works on rescue and recovery are performed by two sea vessels. Weather conditions in the place of occurrence are unfavourable: rough sea, wind speed of 23 m/s, water temperature +2C, air temperature - 11C.
