Signing of gas contracts with Ukraine postponed
Planned on January 21 signing of contracts between "Ukrainian Naftogas", "Gazprom" and RosUkrEnergo has been postponed for 4 days. This was announced by press-secretary of Ukrainian minister of Fuel and Energy Lilia Klochko. By her words, "Gazprom" delegation will arrive to Kiev on January 25.
On January 4, 2006, an agreement about Russian gas supplies to Ukraine was completed. According to the agreement prices for gas and payments for gas transit through Ukrainian territory will increase and mutual enterprise for Russian and Middle Asian gas supplies to Ukraine should be created by February 1.
On January 20 secretary of Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council Anatoly Kinakh announced that contracts will be signed by minister of Fuel and Energy Ivan Plachkov. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Supreme Rada relieved Plachkov of his post.
RosUkrEnergo is the main operator of the gas supplies to Ukraine. The owners of company are "Gazprombank" and Raiffeisen Investment. On January 16 it became known that "Gazprombank" transfered its share in authorized capital stock to "Gazprom". The remaining 50% of stock should be bought out by "Naftogas".
