300 Sakhalin fishermen carried away to sea on ice-floe
Rescue operations on saving a big group of amateur ice-fishermen, who appeared to be on a drifting ice-floe, are being held in Mordvinov gulf, near the east coast of Sakhalin.
According to the General Administration of Russian Emergency Ministry in Sakhalin region, the information about this accident came at about 11.22 a.m. local time (44.22 Moscow time).
Huge ice-floes have broken away from the cost fast ice in the area of about 15-17th km of the highway Okhotskoye-Svobodnoye of Korsakovsky district, about 60 km to the south-east from regional centre.
According the Russian Emergency Ministry, there are about 300 ice-fishermen on the drifting ice-floe.
