Russian hockey players remained without Olympic medals
Russian hockey team lost the match against Czech republic for third place with score of 0:3.
The goals in Russian gates were scored by Martin Erat, Marek Zhilizki and Martin Straka. This Olympiad is the second in history when Russian (USSR) hockey team remained without Olympic medals. The match for gold medal will be played between Sweden and Finland on Sunday.
In struggle for bronze Russian team had a sufficient advantage over rivals in number of shots but couldn`t hit the gates even in 100% situations - throwing the puck in empty gates.
During last minutes of the game Pavel Dazuk stroke the gates of Tomash Vokoun but referee cancelled the goal for playing with highly uplifted hockey stick. The forward of Russian team disagreed with such decision harshly and got 10-minute disciplinary fine.
Czech team attacked not as often as Russians but used the chances and scored a goal in every period.
8 seconds before end of the game Czech team scored the last goal in Russian gates. Coaches of the Russian team changed goalkeeper for a player but this step didn`t rescue the situation.
