The winner of the award
53-year-old Australian writer Richard Flanagan received the literary award of the Booker prize for his novel " the Narrow Road to the far North " (The Narrow Road to The Deep North) - the story of Australian prisoners of war who worked on the construction of the Thai-Burmese railway between Bangkok and Rangoon during the 2nd world war (the Japanese created it to supply their troops).
