Biography Leo LESHCHENKO
Born February 1, 1942 in Moscow. As a child he sang in the choir of the Pioneer, played in brass band. After high school settled a stagehand in the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of the USSR (1959-1960), worked as a turner at a factory precision measuring devices (1960-1961). Military service was held in the armor of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, then was sent to the command of a song and dance ensemble. In September 1964, comes GITIS. During the summer holidays has toured extensively with concert teams, visiting the most remote corners of the country. In 1969. Leshchenko works at the Moscow Operetta Theater, and in February 1970. successfully passed the contest, becoming a soloist-vocalist of the USSR Radio and Television. In this period of intense creative activity begins the singer: his performances on radio, recording songs, songs by Soviet composers, folk songs, vocal works by foreign composers. Leshchenko popularity is growing: in March 1970, he became winner of the IV All-Union competition entertainers, in 1972, was honored a title winner of the contest "Golden Orpheus" in Bulgaria. Also in 1972, he received first prize at the festival in Sopot with the song 'For that guy'. Most popular singer, brought the song V. Kharitonov and D. Tuhmanova 'Victory Day' (1975), which the singer considers one of his most significant achievements. In 1980 - 1989 years Lev Leshenko continues intensive concert activity as soloist-vocalist of the State concert-tour combining RSFSR 'Rosconcert'. In 1984, Leo Leshchenko was awarded the title People's Artist of the RSFSR. In 1990 he founded and headed the 'Music News', the main activity of which was the organization of concert events, presentations, creative evenings. He teaches in the Musical Pedagogical Institute Gnesin (now Russia Academy Gnesin). Many of his students became well-known pop artists: Marina Klebnikov, Katya Lel, Olga Arefieva. He currently lives and works in Moscow.
