IVORY, James

IVORY (Ivory), James (p. 07. 06. 1928), American film director.
Born in Berkeley (California, USA). He studied at the artist-decorator in Oregon, studied directing at the University of Southern California. Produces documentary films. In 1960, Asia Society commissioned him to film on India, after the shooting of which he remained in this exotic country for several years. They formed a creative community of Ivory with Indian producer Ismail Merchant and writer Ruth Prawer Jhabvala Praver.
