Rudyard Kipling, English poet, prose writer and novelist, was born in Bombay in the family of John Lockwood Kipling, rector and professor of the Bombay School of Art, and Alice (McDonald) Kipling. Father was a poet, sculptor and designer, her mother appeared in local magazines.
