. Thomas Lafayette Rosser was born on October 15, 1836 in the family of the landowner in the county of Campbell, Virginia
. When he was 13 years old whose parents moved to a new residence in Texas. In 1856, Rosser joined the military academy at West Point, but, being a cadet graduation class, left school in 1861, not wanting to fight against his native South. He went to Montgomery, where at this time was the Government of the Confederacy, and was promoted to first lieutenant of the regular army of the Confederate States of America. Upon accepting his appointment as an instructor in the artillery of New Orleans, he commanded a company in the battles of Blekberns Ford and Manassas in July 1861 and met with Jeb Stuart, had served under his command in the battles of Mansonz Hill and Lyuinsville. He managed to shoot down one of the observation balloons northerners, resulting in a rise to the rank of captain, and in that position Rosser commanded a battery in the defense of Yorktown and the battles on the Peninsula. In the battle of Mekeniksville he was seriously wounded and soon was promoted to lieutenant-colonel of artillery, and after a few days - the stars of a cavalry colonel and the command of the 5 th Virginia Cavalry Regiment. Thus began his meteoric career in the cavalry, and it was in her glory Rosser won brave, quick and talented officer. He commanded the vanguard of Stewart's expedition to Katlets Station, and in the campaign against the troops of Pope captured a large number of federal soldiers and captured several hundred chosen horse.

August 28, 1862 Rosser took command of the entire cavalry of the stone wall Jackson and August 29 was intercepted and broke federal Fittsdzhona Porter. . Spring 1865. Rosser returned in Petersburg, and fought bravely in the last Civil War battle of Five Forks and High Bridge. On April 7, he captured the federal General Gregg, stole the Confederate wagon train northerners transport, and on April 9, in the last hour of the battle of Appomattokse, in a desperate attack broke through the line of northerners and left with his entire team. Under the leadership of Minister of War, the Confederacy, he was trying to put together the remnants of the Army of Northern Virginia, when he was captured by federal forces captured.
After the war, Thomas L. Rosser some time worked as superintendent of the company "National Express", then an engineer on the construction of the railway Pittsburgh - Konnellsvill and North Pacific Railroad. In 1871 he moved to Canada and led Vinnepegskoe Branch of the Canadian Pacific road. Since the beginning of the Spanish-American War, Thomas Rosser voluntarily joined the U.S. Army and the rank of brigadier general had fought in Cuba and the Philippines. Thomas Lafayette Rosser died on March 26, 1910 in Virginia.
