Biography Zinin, Nikolai Nikolaevich
(25.VIII 1812 - 18.II 1880)
Organic chemist, the founder of Russian scientific schools. Opened the method of obtaining the restoration of aromatic amines, aromatic nitro compounds.
Russian chemist - organic, academician of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (since 1865). He was born in Shusha (Karabakh). He graduated from Kazan University (1833). Worked ibid., 1837. - In laboratories and factories in Germany, France, England (in 1839-1840 he. - In Gisenskom university, SW. Liebig). In 1841-1848 he. - Professor at Kazan University, in 1848-1874 he. - Medical-Surgical Academy in St. Petersburg.
Research dedicated to organic chemistry. Studying (from 1839), the chemical nature of substances with the oxidation and reduction, developed (1841) Methods for obtaining benzoin from benzaldehyde and benzyl oxidation of benzoin. This was the first benzoinovoy condensation - one of the universal methods of obtaining aromatic ketones.
First synthesized (1841) Benzyl (difenilglikolevuyu) acid, described its properties and to determine the composition. Opened (1842) the reduction reaction of aromatic nitro compounds, served as the basis of a new chemical industry - anilokrasochnoy. Similarly, by Aniline and received Alpha-naphthylamine (1842), m-phenylenediamine and dezoksibenzoin (1844), benzidine (1845). Opened (1845) regrouped hydrazobenzene under the action of acids - "benzidine rearrangement". Showed that the amines - the base capable of forming salts with various acids.
Received (1852) allyl ester izotiotsianovoy acid - volatile mustard oil "- based on iodallila and potassium thiocyanate. Found that the interaction of the oil with aniline formed allilfeniltiomochevina. He studied (1854) reaction for the formation and transformation of derivatives of urea; opened ureides. Investigated derivatives radical allila, synthesized allyl alcohol. He received (1860-e gg.) Dichloro-and tetrachlorobenzene, Tolan and stilbene. He studied (1870.) Composition of Lepidus (tetrafenilfurana) and its derivatives.
Together with L. L. Voskresensky is the founder of a large school of Russian chemists. Among his pupils were L. M. Butlerov, H. N. Beketov, A. P. Borodin etc.
One of the organizers of the Russian Physico-Chemical Society and its first president (1868-1877 gg.).
In 1880, Mr.. that society has established a prize of. N. N. Zinin and A. A. Resurrection.
