Born in Riga. He graduated from the theater department of the Latvian State Conservatoire. YA. Vitols (1963). From 1965 - Actor Latvian Academic Drama Theater. A. ITES. In the cinema since 1960 (the first role - Laimonas Dzenis - in the film 'You're lucky').
Winner of the All-Union Film Festival in the category 'Awards for acting work for 1973
People's Artist of the Latvian SSR (1983).
