Biography LEB Jacques
(1859-1924) - German-American biologist. Leader. Mechanistic direction in zoopsychology by the doctrine of tropism. Using data from their experiments on lower animals, advanced the proposition that, in explaining their reactions do not need to turn to the psyche, because they can be exhaustively explained by the influence of physico-chemical factors. Tentative animal behavior occurs in response to the excitation of various sensitive to these factors the peripheral areas of the body. Discussions on this theory have stimulated the search for a new understanding of the objective method in psychology, different from the proposed L. and his followers and at the same time taking into account the futility of understanding consciousness as a bodiless force, outside the control behavior.
