Biography Ludwig D. Faddeev
Born March 23, 1934 in Leningrad in a family of famous mathematicians Faddeev and VN Faddeeva. He graduated from the Physics Department of Leningrad State University as a "physics" (1956). He worked in the Leningrad branch of the Institute of Mathematics, Jr., senior research fellow, head of the Laboratory of Mathematical Problems of Physics. Since 1976 - Deputy Director of the Institute of Mathematics Steklov behalf of the St. Petersburg Branch. In 1988 - 1992 years - the director-organizer of the International Mathematical Institute named after L. Euler Sciences. In 1993 he became director of the Institute. In 1959 he defended his thesis on "The properties of S-matrix for scattering on the local potential". In 1963 he became a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, with a thesis on the results of research in the field of quantum scattering theory for three-particle system. Since 1967 - Professor of Leningrad (St. Petersburg) State University. In 1976 he was elected full member (academician) of the USSR.
Russia's eminent mathematician, one of the founders of modern mathematical physics. He has made a decisive contribution to the solution of three-dimensional inverse problem of quantum scattering theory, quantum three-body problem, the quantization of gauge fields and the creation of the quantum theory of solitons and quantum inverse scattering method. Author of 200 scientific papers and five monographs.
. USSR State Prize Laureate, D. Heineman Prize for Mathematical Physics of the American Physical Society (1974), was awarded a gold medal named after Dirac's International Institute for Theoretical Physics in Trieste (1991)

. Member of the Presidium of the RAS and the St. Petersburg Scientific Center RAS, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Mathematics, Academy of Sciences. Elected a deputy of the Leningrad City Council (1977 - 1987).
Awarded the Labor Red Banner of Lenin, Friendship of Peoples.
He is married and has two daughters.
