George VI became king in 1936. In 1923 he married Lady Elizabeth Bouis-Leon (now zdavstvuyuschaya Queen Mother).

By 1948, it seemed that England overcame the difficulties of post-war years, but the tension of the Second World War and the stress of the postwar period led to a deterioration of health of the King. King failed to recover from surgery for lung, and died February 6, 1952 at the age of 56 years. At the funeral of the King, on tape, attached to the wreath from the Government, Churchill wrote the phrase written on the Victoria Cross - "For Valor."
