Biography BARBERINI Rafael
The writer of Russia, who visited Muscovy in 1564, with a letter from Queen Elizabeth to Ivan Vasilyevich. He arrived in Moscow from Amsterdam via Antwerp, Westphalia, Lubeck, Mecklenburg, Pomerania, Danzig, KцІnigsberg, Riga, Reval, Narva, Novgorod, Tver and Torzhok. At the request of the graph Nubarola and the request of Cardinal Amelio, he described everything he saw and heard in Russia. His manuscript is still kept in Rome, in Barberinskoy library, under the title: "Relazione di Moscovia Scritta da Raffaello Barberino al conte di Nubarola, Anversa li 16 ottobre, 1565". The exact list it is among the manuscripts of the museum of Count Rumyantsev. They were published in the XVI and XVII century, several times in different languages. In Russian it first appeared in translation Lubitsch-Romanovich ( "Son of the Fatherland", 1842, N 6 and 7).
