Brandt, Eduard Karlovich

(1839 - 1891). He graduated from the course in Medical-Surgical Academy, engaged primarily in zoology and comparative anatomy under the guidance F.F. Brandt, as well as attending lectures at the University of SS. Kutorga on paleontology and HORSES. Tsenkovskogo on cryptogam; abroad attended lectures E. Blanchard and Milne Edwards in Paris, Owen in London and P. Leuckart in Leipzig. At the academy was the first assistant in the Department of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy, . then successively privat-docent, . dissector, . professor in the department of anatomy animals at the veterinary department, . Finally, . professor of zoology and comparative anatomy in 1889,
. received the title of academician. Taught zoology and the Mining Institute, zoology, comparative anatomy and embryology at the women's medical courses, read in St. Petersburg. University and teaching courses on women. In his later years was editor of the department of biological sciences in the 82-volume "Encyclopedic Dictionary" Brockhaus-Efron. For comparative anatomical studies of the nervous system of insects, Brandt was awarded by the Paris Academy of Sciences Prize Torah.
