Biography VASILENKO Sergei Nikiforovich
Born in 1872. He graduated from the course at Moscow University in the Faculty of Law, received his musical education at the Moscow Conservatory (1896 - 1901) led by P. Taneyev and M. Ippolitov-Ivanov. His examination cantata "The Legend of Kitezh, in 1902. reworked by the author in the opera, was a success on the stage of the Moscow Private Opera. His works for orchestra: Symphony (op. 10); "Hircus nocturnus" ( "Flight of the Witches"); "epic poem" (op. 4); "Garden of Death" - a symphonic poem on the theme of fairy tales of Oscar Wilde's "The Spirit Kentervilya; suite" Au Soleil "; songs, choruses. Vasilenko music still belongs to "Nebuchadnezzar" and "Daphnis" staged by the society of arts and literature in Moscow on historical performances. Artworks Vasilenko sleek texture, delicate taste and discover fresh talent, not without a national Russian character. The beauty of melody connects him with the harmonic richness, reaching up to refinement, and with a very colorful orchestration. His program works differ originality and poetic conception. A second conductor of a private opera, with recent historical conducts symphony concerts in Moscow, has also performed in St. Petersburg.
