Biography VEYSBAH Johann Bernhard
As a Bohemian-born, he first served in Austria, and in 1707, Mr.. Russian troops moved in and was appointed commander of one of the dragoon regiments. He drew the attention of Peter I's conclusion, without loss, the Russian garrison of Tykochina and the destruction of its fortifications, in view of the Swedish army. In 1708, Mr.. attacked a village Smolyany Swedish detachment and captured its chief, General Kanifera. In 1709, June 15, Veysbah, held under the command of General Renne, participated in the successful attack on the Swedish army, approached the Poltava. June 27, in the famous battle of Poltava, Veysbah Russian cavalry commanded the right flank, and then participated in the persecution of the Swedish army and disarmed her at Perevolochna. In 1711, Mr.. Peter I ordered Veysbahu command of the troops, moved to Turkey, and on his return from an unsuccessful campaign Prutskaya Ukraine has entrusted him with protection from the raids of Crimean Tatars, whom he had in 1713 dealt a severe defeat at Bogoduhov. Occupying various military posts, Veysbah in 1719, Mr.. received a diplomatic appointment in Vienna, on the successful execution of which was appointed (1720) commander in the Ukraine. In 1729, Mr.. Veysbah traveled as Russian minister to Grodno Congress, next year the Emperor Charles VI elevated him to the Count's dignity. At the end of 1731, Mr.. Veysbah was appointed governor-general of Kiev, in 1735, Mr.. was ordered to join with 25 thousand. Corps in the Crimea for the punishment for raiding Tatars, but, gathering in this campaign, he died on Aug. 24 and was buried in Poltava.
