(born 1863), professor of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, is an ethnic Latvian. In St. Petersburg. Conservatory, he studied harmony, counterpoint and fugue for Johannsen, isntrumentovku and free writing - in N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. Contains music critic in the newspaper "St.-Petersburger Zeitung". Major works Vitola: "Midsummer Festival" - a symphonic picture in Latvian folk songs for orchestra, "Dramatic Overture, Symphony H-dur; suite for orchestra in Latvian folk songs, string quartet op. 27; compositions for piano, violin, viola and cello, songs, choruses and orchestra and a capella.
