Biography Glazenap Sergei Pavlovich
Born in 1848. At the end of a university course in 1870. worked at the Pulkovo Observatory. In 1874,. participated in the expedition to eastern Siberia to observe transits of Venus across the disk of the sun. Since 1876, Mr.. G. is at St. Petersburg University, first assistant professor, then professor. Here he cares arranged Observatory for practical training of university students. In 1887, Mr.. observed in Petrovsk solar eclipse. In his master's thesis: "Comparison of observations of eclipses of Jupiter's moons with tables of eclipses and one another" (St. Petersburg, . 1874) derived a very important result, . which brought fame to the author: the second time, . after Delambre, . determined by the value of so-called "equation of light", . Thesis for the doctor: "refractive bias" (1881). Then G. worked almost exclusively on observations of double stars and calculations of their orbits. They developed graphical techniques (bearing his name) determining the orbit. In small articles in professional journals, cm. his "Orbites des Etoiles doubles du Catalogue de Poulkowa" (1889). Results of observations of double stars printed T. in several papers: "Mesures d'etoiles doubles faites a Hoursouf"; "... a Petersbourg"; "... a Domkino". In 1889, Mr.. for work on double stars of the Paris Academy of Sciences awarded Mr.. Award Drum. G. published several popular works: "Comets and shooting stars", "Friends and lovers of astronomy", etc.
