"Story, short stories and essays" Karazin out in St. Petersburg in 1874,. In his literary works Karazin more impressive and tends to be entertaining than to the artistic and ethnographic truth. Simultaneously with the appearance of his literary career, he addressed the audience as a draftsman and vinetista. His first paintings, reproduced in politipazhah were placed in the "World Pictures" for 1871. Since then he has not ceased to provide illustrations of Russian and partly foreign newspapers, depicting mostly batalicheskie and ethnographic subjects, boldly interpreting the theme and also any other kind. The number of drawn images, sketches and vignettes enormous. They testify to the undoubted talent of the artist, who, however, weak on the part of the picture and chasing most of the equipment and smartness of effect of composition, to the detriment of truth and seriousness of the content. Total easier it is for him to landscape element, although it is largely exaggerated striking. The same should be said about the many watercolors that came from under the brush Karazin. Recently (since 1887) he was trying his hand at painting with oil paints: but it disadvantages the artist even more noticeable than in his other works.
