Biography Nicholas Ketscher Hristoforovich
(1809 - 1886). Swede by birth, son of chief of the Moscow Tools Factory Ketscher from childhood had studied English. He studied at the Moscow Medical-Surgical Academy, was a physicist and Stadt-inspector of the Moscow medical office, then the head of the Moscow medical management. In his youth Ketscher belonged to the famous Stankevich, and was a close friend of Herzen and Ogarev. His friends laughed at Epicureanism, and even then it developed, but treated him very attractive, in turn, and Ketscher to the grave reverently honored the memory of their talented friends. Love Ketscher to Shakespeare reaches of worship, which is why his translations are not always distinguished by poetic, wonderfully close to the original: Ketscher afraid to delete at least one word. Translation of all the dramatic works of Shakespeare (Moscow, 1841 - 50 and 1862 - 79) is the undoubted merit Ketscher in the history of our literature. He also translated from French by the famous letter Chaadaeva. In addition, Ketscher edited the Journal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs "(1843 - 45)," Shop Geosciences (1855 - 60) and, together with aq. Galakhov, "Works VG.
