Biography Nartov Andrey
(1736 - 1813). Studied at the Academy of Sciences and in the Cadet Corps. He was one of the founders of the Free Economic Society, 25 years was his secretary, then 16 years - President. In 1767 he was deputy to the commission for a new Code. Since 1801 - President of Russia's Academy. He wrote poems in magazines and a lot of translating, among other things comedy Detusha, Golberg, Lessing's novel Lesage, travel Anacharsis, the history of Herodotus, metallurgy Scopoli. In acts of the Academy of Sciences moved its mineralogical notes, written in French. Edition of his: "Ode to the accession to the throne of Empress Catherine II" (1762); "epistle to the faithful sons of the fatherland" (1762), "Speech at the extraordinary meeting of the Free Economic Society" (1797) and "Speech at the Imperial Academy of Sciences" (1804 ).
