GK. was one of the most educated men of his time. Driven by the desire to find the "Almagest" of Ptolemy, he arrived in Toledo, then center of scientific knowledge, which flowed from the Arabic translation activities. In 1175, Mr.. he made a translation of "Almagest" in Latin, which quickly became generally accepted (although there was already a translation directly from the Greek, made in Sicily in 1160-ies.). His translation was published in 1515, Mr.. GK. also introduced the Europeans to "Astronomy" Heber, compositions Hazen, al-Kindi, Mashallaha, Thabit ibn Curry, al-Razi, Ibn Sina, al-Farabi al-Fargani, Euclid, Archimedes, Galen, Aristotle and others. (total in the sources mentioned 69 transfers GK). He owns a number of original works (in t.ch. Book astronomical geomancy "). GK. performed with the protection of the natural sciences from the theological opposition.
