Biography PROKOFIEV Ivan Prokofievich
1758 - 1828 enrolled in an educational school in the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in 1764, Mr.. and enjoyed by the leadership of the sculptures H. Gillet, graduated from the academic course in 1778, Mr.. with the title of the artist XIV class and a large gold medal, awarded to him for a group of Abraham's Sacrifice. A year later, Prokofiev fashioned a bas-relief "Curse of Ham," which was awarded a gold medal. In 1785, Mr.. recognized as an academician and was appointed lecturer in sculpture class in 1860. promoted to professors. Worked mainly correcting the old and the production of new sculptural works for the palace gardens of Peterhof and Gatchina, as well as the composition of various projects of monumental sculptures, most of which, however, remained unfulfilled. From original works by this artist known figures of tritons (the park in Peterhof), a small but excellent statue of Actaeon, chased by dogs (in the Russian Museum of Emperor Alexander III), and "Sleeping shepherd (the Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts). They show that Prokofiev had considerable talent, knew very well drawing and worked in the manner of French sculptors of the late XVIII century. A. P-in.
