Biography Giovanni Campano da Novara
(Campano); Kampanus (romanized. Campanus Nouar [i] ensis) (1-e XIII in a decade., Novara, Lombardy - 9-17.09.1296) Italian mathematician, astrologer, astronomer and physician, who is credited with creating the system Kampanusa homes. K. served as a papal chaplain in the era of Pope Urban IV (1261 - 1264) to Boniface VIII (1294 - 1303). It is known that K. died as a rich man.
To. was recognized by his contemporaries (in particular, R. Bacon) as an excellent mathematician, he wrote a commentary on the "Elements" of Euclid (between 1255 and 1259).
