Born in Mecca. Very wealthy merchant, he was widely respected as an expert on the laws and traditions of its people, as well as the interpreter of dreams. Muhammad married his daughter Aisha, Abu Bakr and was accompanied by son-in during his flight from Mecca in 622. A loyal follower of the prophet, who in the last days of his life gave Abu Bakr the overall leadership of the prayer. After the death of Muhammad in 632 spontaneously assembled Muslims elected Abu Bakr as caliph.

The activity in the rank of Caliph Abu Bakr began with the successful conquest of the rebellious tribes in Arabia. His troops commanded by a talented military commander Khalid ibn al-Walid. Finally assert its authority, Abu Bakr began to expand the ownership of the caliphate at the expense of neighbors. In 633 Khalid made a victorious campaign in Persia, but his main aim was the capture of Syria. The following year at the Battle of Adzhnadayne was broken army of the Byzantine emperor Heraclius. Shortly after Abu Bakr died, his case was continued Omar I (Umar I), the great Caliph conqueror.
